Reflection: The Blind Side

"The Blind Side" is a movie based on a true story that was written by John Lee Hancock. This movie is a perfect example of how a person can change their perspective about life in just a second. Sandra Bullock who plays the mother in the movie, was showed at the beginning of the movie as a successful, high class woman. She barely seems like someone who would be interested in helping a homeless black student from their children's school. But when she first helped Michael, everything seemed to change within her. She was instantly happy and you could easily see how helping others had changed her. She not only gave Michael a home, food and clothes but also she gave him something far more valuable: love. She welcomed him into her house with open arms and did everything in her power to make him feel comfortable, she even became his legal guardian.
She hanged out with the typical rich, vain and arrogant friends, but it was not until Michael had been in her life long enough that she was able to realize that she was no like them. Yes she might still be a little like them, but the most important thing she does not share with them is: empathy. This is a perfect example of how people can get to see things differently once they have experienced something out of their comfort zone, and the best way of doing that is by putting ourselves in someone else's shoes. In this movie she shows us a very different and modern side of motherhood, she uses compassion and love to solve her problems and I think that Michael was the one who brought out that side of her. In this movie we can learn that determination, love, empathy and honesty can pretty much overcome every issue life might present us.The Blind Side, both inspires and gives hope to all who aspire to overcome life’s challenges and reach for their dreams.
